Every lead has a Contact Information section in the Overview tab. This is where you find the phone numbers, email addresses, and officer names you need to start a conversation with the carrier.

Where the Data Comes From #

All contact info on a lead is pulled directly from the carrier's FMCSA filings (Form MCS-150 and related submissions). When a motor carrier registers or updates their information with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, that data flows into DOT Lead Scout the next morning.
Authoritative, but not enriched

Scout-plan contact info is what the carrier filed with the federal government. We do not manually scrape or buy supplemental data — what you see is what FMCSA has on record.

Why Some Carriers Are Missing Contact Info #

Not every motor carrier has a phone or email on file. Common reasons:
Tips when contact info is missing

Try the SAFER button to look up the carrier on the FMCSA SAFER website — sometimes it shows additional contacts. You can also search the carrier name on Google or LinkedIn to find a website or a public contact.

How Phone Numbers Are Formatted #

Raw FMCSA phone numbers come in as digit strings (e.g. 2313529631). DOT Lead Scout formats them for display as (231) 352-9631 automatically. The 11-digit country-code prefix (1XXXXXXXXXX) is stripped if present.

Trial-User Behavior #

If you are on the Trial plan, contact info is locked by default. You can unlock up to 3 leads during your trial to see the full Contact Information section. Once unlocked, that lead stays unlocked for the duration of your trial.
